NOTICE OF ELECTION
To all members in good standing of Unifor Local 1990:
Nominations Period – September 22nd at 5 pm to September 29th at
5pm, 2025
Campaigning Period –October 2nd to October 28th
Special members meeting October 9th (Presentation of candidates) @
6PM
Voting Period – October 27st at 8am to October 28th at 5:00pm,
Runoff Date (if needed) – November 4th
Election Results Available –October 28th at the AGM
Note: if a runoff is required, a new date of election results will be published.

In accordance to: Unifor Policy regarding local elections and the Unifor Local 1990 Bylaws Article 5 - Elections. In any situation where there is a conflict between these documents, the Policy shall overrule. ELECTION ELIGIBILITY
A member shall be eligible to hold executive office if they are a member in good standing.
Duties for each executive position can be found in the Local 1990 Bylaws – Article 4: Officers and their duties.
Wednesday September 22nd at 9am to Wednesday September 29th at 5pm, 2025
The nominations period will open for the above positions on the Executive Board on September 22nd 2025, at 9am. The nomination period will close on
September 29th 2025, at 5pm. Any nomination forms received outside of these dates/times will be disqualified.
Nomination forms will be available through the Local website and via email. Candidates are able to self-nominate. If you cannot find the election form, please email: @email
Along with your nomination form, each candidate may submit a bio (250 words or less) and a picture of themselves that will be publicly posted on the Local 1990 website. No changes to bios or pictures will be accepted after the nomination period.
Nomination forms must be submitted directly to the Elections Committee via @email and each nominee will be contacted with a confirmation of receipt of intent to run. If you do not receive confirmation within 48 hours of submission, please contact the Elections Committee.
● NOTE: If you submit a nomination form and wish to withdraw it, please contact the Election Committee prior to September 29th 2025.
CAMPAIGNING PERIOD
Once the nomination period is complete, information will be posted on the Union’s website, informing the names of the nominees for the upcoming election(s).
CAMPAIGN MATERIAL produced by Nominee (ie: leaflets/handouts/pins)
- All campaign material produced must be in compliance with the Unifor Policy Against Harassment in the Workplace and the Policy and Bylaws regarding Local Elections.
- It is the candidates responsibility to familiarize themselves with ALL Unifor and Local 1990 bylaws and rules around campaigning. These are available at unifor.org and uniforlocal1990.ca
- Candidates are responsible for producing and distributing their own campaign materials. Use of CSSD resources (email, paper, toner, staff) is strictly prohibited.
- Candidates may only campaign for themselves. Any materials produced and distributed by second or third parties is strictly prohibited.
- Candidates will have a chance to address the membership at the AGM on October 30th, 2025. Presentations will be limited to 5 minutes. This will include a presentation of candidates and a short question and answer period. Questions from members will be limited to 5.
Candidates who are found to be campaigning in bad faith will be disqualified. This includes, but is not limited to, harassing other candidates (this includes unsolicited phone calls, texts, emails or any other form of communication), or misusing CSSD resources.
VOTING PROCESS
Online voting will open at 8am on October 31st, 2025 and close at 11:59pm on November 3rd, 2025. There will be no option to vote in person. Link will be sent via district email to members.
Voting must be completed on a member’s own time. You will not be given time off work to complete your vote.
RUNOFF ELECTION
Should a runoff election be required (as stipulated in the Policy and Bylaws) it will be held on November 4th, 2025 via electronic voting. There will be no option to vote in person.
ELECTION RESULTS
Results of the election will be posted to the Local 1990 website on November 4th, 2025, and also be announced to the members during a Special Members Meeting on Thursday November 6th. Candidates will be notified of the election results by email on November 4th unless a runoff is required then notification will happen on November 5th. If a runoff election is required, or there are extenuating circumstances, the date of results may be changed and a revision will be posted to the Local 1990 website.
